For an excellent integrated amplifier at a reasonable price, I suggest the Musical Fidelity M6si, which really sounds great and has tons of power, and even a very good phono stage. I think it will sound at least as good as a McIntosh for a lot less money.
The Monitor Audio Silver 500 is an excellent speaker that runs $2500 per pair.
Psb also has some excellent tower speakers in that general price range.
