Howdy all. New guy here. So I got my prime scout going yesterday with the ortofon 2M Bronze. My wife said ‘wow, I thought it would sound much better than that.’ FML

I already knew that these B&W speakers (bookshelf DM 601S2, stand mounted) weren’t going to be the greatest and would probably be a weak link. They seemed OK like in’06 but probably not where I want to be now. So what then?? Think $5K range.

The integrated amp is a Denon AVR-E400. It was great back in the day for watching The Matrix but not obviously what I want for good vinyl equipment especially with decent speakers. I guess the truth is I would love to own a McIntosh. An integrated amp makes the most sense to me just for the sake of multiple media., but there’s probably just as good preference if not better at a better price then Mcintosh so I get that and of course open to whatever that might be.

The pre amp is a MoFi StudioPhono MC/MM. I didn’t go crazy with this in case it becomes expendable down the road.

But the speakers seem like the biggest weakest length but maybe I’m wrong??

We live at the beach in so cal and this isn’t a huge room. But we won’t be in this condo forever - maybe a few years. After that we will get in a bigger place but will probably still have condo shared walls. The idea was to mostly use what I have until I could figure how what to do next.

Well, thanks in advance for any help.

Mike
