Hello all.
I've never heard anything audiophile before, and i would like to get involved and put together my first setup.
I have been using an all in one system from Technics i got years ago for about 700 pounds and the cd player has stopped reading discs.
I felt now was a good time to get involved and upgrade everything.
The tv's were easy, i saw the LG C7 Oled and liked it so much i got 5 of them for the main rooms in the house.
Getting the audio side of things done however is a whole different ballgame and proving to be extremely difficult and confusing. I had no idea there were so many things to consider.
As a beginner, i'm not going to be ploughing tens of thousands of pounds in to just yet, but i also don't want to go too budget either.
At first i was just going to get a good av receiver, but i understand that isn't the best for music in 2 channel. Besides, i think i can do without surround sound and the clutter that goes with it.
Then i was going to get the Cambridge Azur 851 power amp and the dac that acompanies it, but that had no optical inputs so getting sound for tv/movies i think was impossible. Plus, apparently they get extremely hot, so i ruled that out.
Then i came across the SimAudio Moon Neo Ace. This seems to be truly all in one. Perhaps not as good as seperates, but it seems a good place for noobs to start. It's an amp, dac, streamer, a good all rounder it seems.
My concern is, it's only 50 watts. Is that going to be enough to use with decent speakers? Theres also a similar product from elac, wich is way less expensive and is 60 watts. Maybe the watts isn't something to worry about, i don't really know hence why i'm here.
So, is the Moon a good purchase for someone like me? Or should i look elsewhere? If the Moon is a good choice, then some speaker help would be appreciated. I've been considering something like Svs Ultra bookshelfs, or Kef Ls50 or Kef R300.
Also worth noting, i will be using a sub, but only for gaming, tv, movies etc.
Also, although i prefer sound quality over volume, it would be nice if on the rare occasion i decide to pump up the voume, i could do so without worrying too much about damaging the speakers or components.
Speaker matching is a big priority for me. I am really only looking at bookshelf/standmount.
Any help or suggestions of any kind will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks to all and my apologies for the length.
