Kansas City Missouri use to have a number of quality hifi stereo shops in town. Now to my knowledge we have two, and this includes a Best Buy Magnolia, which I am not fond of. So being able to audition equipment is limited to say the least. So I need your help! I started my Entry level system a few years ago with a NAD C326 BEE AMP, NAD C516 BEE CD player, a Peachtree DAC-it, PSB Image B6 speakers. These products were all highly rated by Stereophile and other audio publications. I recently purchased a set of EPOS Epic 2 speakers on sale, and after a month of burn-in, sound very open and revealing as compared to my PSB's. I think my next step is an Amplifier upgrade. I have considered the following: Musical Fidelity m2si($599), Creek 5350 SE ($999) and have added UNISON RESEARCH UNICO HYBRID INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER (used $999) to the list. Bodhi had recommended the Hegel H160 for $1650 but that's a little more than what I want to spend. I would like to spend $599 for the MF but am not sure. I am wanting to warm these speakers up a tad.. Would the Unison Research be a better choice? or would a different DAC, or interconnects possibly do the trick. Any help would be appreciated!
If anyone lives in any of the adjoining cities, Omaha, Topeka, Wichita, St. Louis have any suggestions of a HiFi shop, this would also be appreciated!
Also any feedback on Upscale Audio?
