Hi Mick.
Very nice collection of components! Have you experimented at all with speaker placement? I wonder how the system's sound would change if you moved the speakers farther apart.

Thank for your comments. I will try it later this week and let you know how it goes. One of my problems is that this room has high ceilings and no furniture. I'm sure that impacts the quality. Any ideas on how to resolve?

Hi Mick. Just by looking ... I'd say don't move the left speaker ANY closer to that mirrored door. Is it a closet? If so, experiment listening with it open. At first it'll sound comparatively dull since the reflections off the hard mirror are what you're used to hearing. High ceiling might actually be a big advantage, but that early reflection off the mirror ... try hanging something cloth on the mirror and see if the sound doesn't snap into focus better. A good-sized rug a little ways out in front of the system will also help here as well since you have wood flooring. Don't go overboard since the Titans are a bit reticent. NAD/Titans/Rega --- I'll bet it just rocks.

Smart use of the large window sill to rest the Rega! Good way to help divorce floor vibrations from LPs. Also helps keep it out of the Titan's vicinity somewhat.

I took your suggestions and added a rug and opened up the closet doors and the sound is a lot more focused and detailed. The addition of the rug greatly helps with the absorption. The bass is tighter and sounds more in synch with the speakers. thanks for the tweaks. I also toed in the speakers slightly as well move them further apart. They sound bigger then they really farther apart. Thus far I'm loving the rig no complains thus far.

Question for the analog folks...
Does a record clamp greatly improve the sound? I have seen clamps on MusicDirect.com that range from $30 - $300. Is a basic clamp worth it for my rig? or should I just spend that money on more records?

Thanks

Mick

Is your speaker stand sand-filled?
Do you have any anti-vibration or absorption rubber pads underneath your CD player? It may help to reduce jitter.

Nice system -- what sort of material do you normally listen?
Any acoustical instruments... Classical, Jazz per chance?
