OK, this is my first post. I've been hanging around STereophile.com forever, and I've been a newbie stereophile since I heard my college roomate's father's system.
I'm only 27 and wanting to put together my first system. I plan on building it "piecemeal" so that I can truely learn about each component and the way it affects (effects, affects, whatevers) my overall system.
To get to the thrust of this post, I plan on taking my Christmas bonus and purchasing an amp and a pair of speakers. I've been hanging around a couple of local shops and have completely (and I mean head over heals) fallen in love with the sound of the McIntosh 2012 100x2 tube amp (for my price point, I should make note). But I am scared of the "lack of wattage" as opposed to watts put out by some of the solid state amps in that range. Can anyone provide some guidance for me on this? I would deeply appreciate it.
