Hi all,
I'm brand new here,my first post.
I've been checking around on here and other sites, trying to get some ideas/info about what the best components are for my budget ($1200-1500,not much I know). Hopefully someone is willing to give me some much needed advice.

Anyway, my main goal is to replicate the big warm sound of vinyl with CD's, I know one can only come so close. My musics of choice are electric blues from 50's through 70's and hard bop jazz from mid-50's to mid 60's(think Bluenote).

While many, many jazz albums have been remastered and sound very good on CD, sadly this is not the case for blues. Most blues CD's are just transfers from vinyl, not remastered.

As I mentioned, I'm trying to get as much of that wonderful warm vinyl sound as I can on CD. A hifi dealer had mentioned the "Ack! Dac 1.0", saying it cound even make a big difference with my $50.00 dvd player and Aiwa shelf system (all that I currently use). My other goal is more BASS, I miss the bass when playing CD's on my cheap shelf system. Could someone please recommend some quality components? From my early findings, it seems Marantz,Music Hall and Onkyo get high marks without being beyond my budget. I'm a true novice here, looking to put together good components that give the best sound for my smallish budget($1200-$1500) for the first time in my life. Is the Ack! Dac a good idea as well?

Sorry to run on with this post, just wanted to cover what I'm looking for, thanks very much........mark.
