Klipsch is very, very bright. Def Tech is less bright. NHT makes a far better speaker and will sound much better than both. You might also want to check out the Kef KHT 1005 and Polk makes a system as well. I forget the model number.

Amazon has the Martin-Logan MLT-2 system for $397.

It originally listed for $1200, but it is now discontinued and the price is right.

That is a complete system, including subwoofer, which IMO is better than either of the ones you listed.
