The XLS-12 would be a better choice for the speakers; they are around $800 per pair and will give you more bass.

The Yamaha stuff is not the best for the money.

I suggest a Cambridge 651A amplfier ($700) and a Marantz CD6005 CD player ($500). That will give you much better sound.

You will probably need a phono preamp to use with the turntable; the Cambridge 551P is good.
