It sounds like you have the gear you need already ordered.

For the equipment you have ordered, the interconnects are generally balanced interconnects with XLR connectors on both ends; those will connect source, mixer and amplifier together.

I suggest that you buy the Monoprice Premier Series cables, Monoprice #4751, 4752, 4753, 4755 etc. depending on the length required. They run from $6 to $30 depending on the length required.

The speaker wires connect to binding posts at the amplifier, and apparently need either an XLR connector or a 1/4 inch phone plug to be installed on the speaker end. The Monoprice #6209 1/4 inch mono phone plug plug is less than two dollars and will do the job for plugging into each speaker. Just strip the wire and attach directly to the amplifier terminals at that end.

I suggest that you use 14 gauge speaker wire that is pure copper (not the copper-plated crap many stores sell). Monoprice sells 100 feet of pure copper #14 speaker wire for about $25 (#2791).

Thanks so much for the reply!

I placed my Amazon order a little over an hour ago because I figured I'd better get something on the way and hoping I got the right stuff. It says it's "preparing for shipment" so I'm not sure I can change anything. I wish I'd have seen your post first! This is what I ordered:

To connect between the laptop and the mixer: Hosa Cable CMR210 Stereo 1/8 Inch to Dual RCA Adapter Cable - 10 Foot

To connect between the mixer and amplifier: Your Cable Store 12 Foot XLR 3 Pin Male To RCA Male Cable

To connect between the amplifier and speakers: Pyle-Pro PPSS30 30' Foot Professional Speaker Cable Male Compatible With Speakon Connector to Male Compatible With Speakon Connector

Some of the Pyle products didn't get the best reviews and there is some discrepancy on the gauge of these cables.

Do you think I need speaker stands? I don't really know how much I would use the speakers in this type of situation from here on out. These are pretty inexpensive though ($19.95 each) and have good reviews: PYLE-PRO PSTND25 6 feet Tripod Speaker Stand
