I joined English magazine Hi-Fi News & Record Review in September 1976 as its equivalent of Stereophile's Stephen Mejias and was its editor from October 1982 through the end of April 1986. I have a soft spot for my alma mater, so it was with some relief that I heard Monday November 1 that it had been bought by a small hobbyist publisher: http://www.myhobbystore.com/ .
Relief, because I had heard a while back that the previous owner, IPC Magazines, was disposing of all of its specialty magazines and HFN/RR's future was uncertain. I wish editor Paul Miller all the best for the relationship with his new boss.
