A buddy of mine has the Regas and loves them. They are a wonderful speaker but maybe lack a little tightness in bass.

There are tons of great speakers that will work in your room. What is your budget? Do you like a warmer, more neutral or forward sound profile?

I have the Rogue Hydra in my system paired with Revel Performa3s which is a speaker I highly recommend if you like a slightly forward sound or your room is overdamped. Let us know what you like and we can help steer you in the right direction.

Hi,
My budget is $1600.00 max. My wife would have my head if I go over that. I am not sure what I like in a new speaker.
The pair a have been listening to for a very long time are the Yamaha 690's, like then a lot, give then to my daughter.
My listening room is my living room with full carpet, if that makes a difference.

Thanks again
Herbert

Monitor Audio just refreshed its Silver lineup. You can still find new closeout inventory on eBay. The Silver 8s are full range speakers that are dead neutral and will work well with the Rogue.

The other line I would look at is the Revel Concerta2s. This is a relatively new line from Revel and they are one of my favorite speakers for the money. There is a bookshelf you could get with OEM stands and a subwoofer on budget. They also have a pair of floorstanders that are on budget for you.

The advantage to the Revels is you could pick them up from Crutchfield and just return them if you don’t like them.

I recommend the Focal Chorus 726 tower speakers, which Music Direct
has a deal on at $1299/pair.

They are excellent speakers, and the price is $600 off the regular
retail price.

Hi,
I have upgraded my system with the following:
-Rega Planar 6 w/ Exact cartridge
-Rogue Sphinx V2
Now I need a pair of speakers (tower or bookshelf w/sub if needed).

I have read about the SVS Ultra Bookshelf and the Rega RX1. Given the members high level
of expertise on this forum, I would love to have your suggestion and opinions on these speakers
or any other speakers you feel will help my system. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

My listening room is 13ft. x 23ft. with a 9ft ceiling. The speakers will be placed along the long wall.

Thanks to all
Herbert

HI,
Had a chance to hear a few speakers:
Acoustic Energy AE309 (a little over my limit)
Rega RX1
Castle Knight 5
The Acoustic Energy's had a little more bass, but they all sounded OK.
Have any of you had a chance to listen to any of these? If so, your opinions
would most welcome and appreciated.

Thanks
Herbert

I'm currently riding the Revel train with both pairs of Salons, the 1's and 2's that I had to have after hearting what the F52's could do. Still Dynaudio makes some great speakers and maybe the KEF ls50's would be a match for your Rogue Sphinx2.

I still need speakers. The good news is that my budget is now $2700(saved a little more money). Will that change the speakers recommended in the above post? Thanks for helping.

Hi bierfeldt,
In one of your post you said
"Listening to the Concerta2s at the Harman store and literally being able to switch between the two with the
press of a button, I found the Concerta2s uncomfortably close to the Performa3s in quality. I am not certain I could tell the difference on many tracks." Do you still feel the same about the Concerta2?

The reason I'm asking is that, I am thinking of buying the Revel M16 or M105 or the Polk Audio LSim 703's. Which ever one I buy I can only place them 7" from my back wall. What do you think? What do you think about the Polk's? What stand would you recommened with the Polk's? I plan on using a SVS sub(SB2000). Would really like to hear your opinion and others opinion before I buy.

Thank you for asking for my opinion. I have since entered the market as a speaker manufacturer. When last years posts occurred I was exploring designs but had nothing firm. My company, Verdant Audio just launched our speakers at AXPONA with two models.

Even though I am priced a bit above these (my lower end standmounts are $4K), because I am now in this business I feel it is inappropriate for me to offer an opinion on competitive products. Additionally, me offering an opinion about competitive products is an explicit violation of forum rules.

I wish I could help more. If you want to discuss my products or the business in general you can reach out to me directly. My contact info is at verdantaudio.com.
