What are your front speakers? The Naim Nait 5si integrated has ht bypass for an av receiver or processor. So that would be your best choice if you're keeping your av receiver for home theater purpose and use the Naim Nait 5si for 2ch music.
But you will have to improve your source component, in your case you will have to upgrade your Marantz cd player. If I were you I would get one of Naim music streamer/DAC as Naim makes really good sounding streaner & DAC. Streaming, if it's done and implemented right, will give you better sonic fidelity and musicality than using spinning cd or a cd player in real time. Unless if you step up to real high end cd players that will usually cost you a fortune to get.
IMO a decent dedicated music streamer and/or DAC will usually sound better than average or most cd players.
Back to the Naim Nait 5si analog integrated amp. This unit received great reviews from What Hi-Fi and Stereophile and other professional reviewers.
Also with streaming, you aren't only limited to cd quality files (16/44) but you can also stream or download higher resolution files (24/96, 24/192, 32/192, etc).
The Nait 5si has a ht bypass but not sure about the Naim 200.
Caphill, the speakers are Focal Chorus 826 V W's. I hear you about the benefits of cds vs music streaming, but I've got a lot of cds. Your comments helped, thanks.
You can rip your CDs and stream the ripped files through streamer/DAC.
For better sound quality, the OPPO BDP-105 is the one to get; the sound quality is excellent, and for $1200 it is a steal. It also has balanced outputs.

go for the Nait5si. Keep me posted and Happy Listening!
Allen: I think I will do just that. Will come back to this forum after Christmas, which is when I expect to buy one.
Caphill, yes, I could rip and play through a streamer, but I believe that would involve purchasing something like an ND5 XS. Affordable in the future.
Allen, I scored a 4 month old XS 2 for less than a new 5si. The improvement is what I had hoped for, the audio equivalent of moving to 3 D visually. Good cd recordings become great. On an O Daiko drum, you can hear not only the perfect timbre of the drum note, you can hear the skin of the drum. It elevates mediocre recordings. The downside is that I find myself concentrating on the recording quality and not the quality of the performance. That, I hope will wear off. Thanks to all who responded.
