With some help from the forum the system is coming together. I'm excited, the last time I purchased a dedicated audio system was many years ago. I wound up with a Proton integrated amp and a set of Dahlquist bookshelf speakers; DQ3's I think they were called. It sounded great, I would listen to music for hours on end with that system.
It was the speakers that drove the decisions for this budget system I'm putting together. The JBL LSR 305's powered speakers are priced very low but I keep hearing great things so I am getting the Emotiva Stealth DC-1 and connecting my macbook pro to it along with a Tivoli Radio Model One for tuning in radio stations. I'm going to hold off on ordering the sub woofer until I hear how the speakers sound on their own. Thanks for the advice, I'll post my impressions once I have things setup later this weekend.
