I assume that operation is normal when using a CD player or other source on the other amplifier inputs.
It would seem that your phono stage is Kaput.
My advice would be to buy a separate phono preamp, which can improve your sound quality compared to the one built-in to the amplifier.
I suggest the NAD PP2e, which is $169 from Audio Advisor.
