New to audiophile world- speaker shopping and would love any opinions about the Munro Egg150 monitors versus the KEF LS 50(wireless)'s? Looking to move up to a really nice speaker setup in my office- with pricing up to mid-$2,000- to be attached to my iMac and primarilly used for near-field use as I realize I am now listening to the bulk of my music sitting at my computer.
The Munro monitors may seem like an odd choice but have found them for a very tempting price- £999(vs more typical pricing in the £2000 to £3000 range) making them a bit of a bargain and everything I have read about them rave about their performance.
Would love to hear if just any experience with the Munro monitors (as well as the better known KEF''s) Would you have any recommendations for speakers for my use as described above(near-field at my computer in a irregular shaped room with mostly hard surfaces which is a transition space in a "New York in San Francisco" industrial loft with high ceilings, cement floors, lots of windows and a staircase.)
Last question- monitor vs. speaker- is there a meaningful(for me) difference that would steer me in particular direction? Are the Munros even something that I should consider given that they are marketed for professional studio use not home listening?
Thanks!
John
P.s. Sorry about my long-winded posting- it's just that I look forward to getting wisdom from "audiophile elders" out there!
