I went to the Dark Side today off the "Phile" news page and downloaded MSO Saint Sans Symphony #3. 80+ megs in about 8 minutes for all of $5.99. It would have cost me more than that to drive to my nearest outlet...and if they had it, paid even more.
The Binaural sound is excellent. Even as I listen through my $80 Firewire Behringer FCA 202 I cannot complain about the fidelity...I have symphonic CDs that sound worse for sure.
Viewing it on my waveform editors in Sony SoundForge or WavePad it is nice to see the dynamic range left intact.
This may be the music buy of 2007 for me...a bargain to be sure. With this type of excellent music available at low cost there is no reason for public school music appreciation classes not to be in full force.
