So why don't you just put all of your files on the Windows PC.
Use what works.
Are you connecting the various devices one at a time to the "network" connector on the 6008, or using some other digital input or what; details might be helpful.

My older XP HTPC was too old, so I replaced it the new one, which is based on Linux Mint OS.
The system components are connected to the wired network via a Netgear ProSafe Gigabit Switch:
- the HTPC feeds the Marantz SR6008, a SqueezeBox, and a TV player
- the SR6008 is seen within the TV player's list of renderers
- I can play Internet Radios via the Marantz with no problem, so the network connection into it works fine
However, unplugged & plugged the network cable into the Marantz port several times, nothing has changed, it rejects to play the audio files no matter their format is (MP3 or 16/44.1 or FLAC/WAV 24/96)
I would call Marantz technical support and go through this with them.
It sounds like the software is not compatible, but maybe the Marantz needs a firmware update...or maybe it is defective.
I incidentally discovered two UPnP media servers (free), by means of which I have been able to get my Marantz playing my music library ...
- MediaTomber
- MimimServer (http://minimserver.com/features.html)
Both run under Linux.

Got it working now, after installing the UPnP MinimServer music server.

Control Point : Marantz Remote App, version 1.1.4
