I received the above e mail (only a part of it quoted here) from The Enthusiast Network who is unfortunately managing subscriptions for the Stereophile. I recently received the April issue and my subscription will end with the June issue. The overall tone of the email is very similar to the e mails notifying you that you won $ 1,000,000 on a lottery you did not play....
All of the above prompted me to check what the real cost of the subscription is. The annual subscription to Canada is US$24.00(verified a minute ago). It appears that the renewal of the existing subscription is over 50% more expensive than the new subscription! Mildly put, I consider that extravagant.

I would really appreciate if someone could explain why am I supposed to pay $ 12.97 more than the current rate if I am renewing rather than starting a subscription?
