Hello all,
little background..
mains B&W 602's
Yamaha reciever that is 10 yrs old,
and a denon dvd player and ps3
I use my set-up for 90% music and 10% movies.
I listen to my music LOUD... I want this sub to give a beating and take a beating. This is a give/take relationship. However I am in a budget...
I have a b&w asw650 that is currently broken down for the 2nd time now. This is really frustrating as I would think if you buy quality equipment it should last. Well apparently the amps go out on those things. I loved it when it worked tho.
Well the b&w is in the repair shop right now. while i was there, I asked the sales guys that I am in the market for a new sub. after a series of questions the guy asked is $2200 out of your price range?... uhhhh yeah? lol. He recomended the JL audio 10" which apparently JL audio makes a sub that is a tank and will give and recieve punishment when punishment is due.. if ya know what i mean.
too bad it costs 2200
So... he says theres this Martin Logan depth-i in the back in the showroom for sale for $1000 for the display item. I would get the warranty and all that since im the first owner too. I gave it a liten.. he put in a couple of cds but he never really cranked it up but it sounded pretty good.. it actually sounded like it wasnt there and it became the mains which seemed quite diffferent. Im just really concerned on how well this thing can perform at really loud volumes and not become distorted and blow. In other words if i want to crank up my stereo because my little 602s freakin scream for how small/big they are.... I dont want to have to keep an eye/ear on the sub to make sure its not about to shoot the woofer right thru the opposing wall
Just looking for some advice on whats out there.. i still find it hard to put out $1000 for a speaker.. but if it can deliver for my needs then I may.
Just looking for comments questions and thoughts. Thanks guys
