Joe, I am very familiar with Infinity speakers having owned 3 pairs of classic Infinity's before. For $100, the Dealer would be selling the newer Harmon/Infinity RS2's which to be honest, were mass market rubbish. The old classic RSII speakers from 1983 were very good, and were the forerunner to the excellent RS2B's. However those speakers are now long in the tooth, no longer supported by Infinity, and need a lot of power to make them sing. But that's another story.

Given the choice between the two, I would say the safe bet would be to go with the new Klipsch monitors. Btw, to throw a cat amongst the pigeons before you hand over your hard earned quan, you might want to take a look at these vintage Klipsch bookshelfs in very good shape - http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649416598-klipsch-ksb21-synergy-series/

Ok to begin I am in the process of building a system for my home. Nothing fancy just something that sounds good (I know, sounds good is subjective) and also fits within my budget. The system I am looking at is a Denon AVR-2800 receiver, a Technics turntable SL-BD10 and Infinity RS2 Speakers. Since these are separates, I ensured I would be able to hear the system together before I buy it.

So now for the question. The Infinity speakers are $100 for the pair used, the Klipsch speakers are $179 new in box. I haven't heard either yet and I don't want to risk dropping 179 + shipping for speakers I haven't heard.

Does anyone have any opinions about these speakers one way or another?

Cheers!
Joe

I would expect either of those speakers to not sound good at all.

There are very few speakers in that price range that are worth considering.

However, IF I could only afford around $200 for a pair of speakers, I would look hard at the deal Audio Advisor has on the Martin-Logan LX16 speakers.

These normally go for $399/pair, but Audio Advisor has them now for only $239 per pair.

+ 1. That is a good deal.
