Hi! - I am new to Stereophile so if I posted in the wrong spot please let me know.
I have a Schiit Audio Yggdrasil Gen 5 DAC. I play all my music over Tidal. So far I have 2 inputs:
PC USB -> Yggy
UHD Chromecast HDMI -> TV S/PDIF optical -> Yggy
I am looking for a better network streamer to connect to my DAC that offers a way to remotely control Tidal and has improved sound quality. Budget is $200 - $1500. I have a Chromecast Audio as well but feel it is essentially the same sound as the Chromecast UHD; not a significant improvement. The Yggy does not support DSD or MQA and I do not have any sort of music library that I stream from besides Tidal so those features are unimportant. Also, since Yggdrasil DAC so I don't care about the quality of any internal DAC inside the device. I can input via coaxial S/PDIF, BNC S/PDIF or AES/EBU XLR. My S/PDIF optical port is being used by my TV.
Devices that I would consider would include a Bluesound Node 2i ($500) or a Cambridge Audio Azur 851N ($1500). I want the best sound quality I can get and easy remote controlled navigation of Tidal but am not exactly sure how to spend as I don't know how they will actually affect sound quality since I will be using an external DAC (Yggy).
Any product recommendations or advice on how much a network streamer (w/o using any included DACs) will affect sound quality on a Yggy would be great.
