You've asked a good question, but one that is so influenced by individual tastes that I'm not sure it can be answered without trying the No. 532H amplifier in your own system at home.

home. The No.532H had a greater dynamic range than any of the older ML amplifiers I have in my listening room. Also, it did surprisingly well on the test bench, according to John Atkinson. Other Levinson amplifiers always met their specifications, but the No.532H drew more superlatives from the tester than I'm accustomed to.  In any case, I am giving it a Class A recommendation, as I indicated in the review. Having access to a No.431, the No. 532H is a definite, gualitative step up in power output, bass punch, and upper midrange clarity. However, I have to caution you that you may like the No. 431's art deco metalwork more than the No.532H's more utilitarian externals. Be sure to see it in person if you can.

Best,

Larry Greenhill

Thanks for the reply Larry . I'm glad to hear it's a definite , qualitative step up in power out put , bass punch , and upper midrange clarity . I have seen it and heard it at my local dealer , I don't mind it's looks at all . I'll bring it it home and see if my Salon one's are a suitable sonic match .

Thanks again , and keep up the good work .
