Hi All,
Mid-level audiophile here, looking for advice on a Home Theater setup.
I just ordered a Pioneer Elite SC-81 receiver (130Wpc 7.1, $1000), and a pair of KEF LS50's (open box sale - only $1200!)
I have a few questions:
1) Are the LS50's going to pair well with the SC-81? I do NOT expect to buy a separate amp at the moment. The SC-81 will need to drive all 5 channels for now (knowing full-well that the sub will be powered).
2) What center channel and rear channel speakers pair well with the LS50's?
3) I want a good sub to complete the HT suite. Recommendations? Stay with KEF or ... ?
Room is 16x20 and NOT baffled or padded - it also has to be my living room. My other choice was a complete 5.1 setup of Goldenear AON 2 or 3's with a ForceField 10" sub (not 12" because the room isn't huge and I prefer tight bass to boomy bass). I'm not ready for a two-sub room. Maybe one day.
Budget is $2500-3000 for center, rears, and sub (less if less is more of course). My main listening habits are 60% music and 40% movies. Music-wise, I tend to listen to pop, rock, and occasionally EDM or Hip-Hop (so bass is important - just not rattle-your-neighbors bass). I live in a house, so sharing walls is not a problem. I want something that can switch from Batman Begins to Pearl Jam effortlessly. I realize that this budget may be hard to accomplish. If I had to sacrifice, I'd drop the rears and buy just the center and sub and save up for rears later. So please don't try to fit everything into my budget if it's not realistic.
Questions or thoughts welcome...
Thx,
Tim
