As a 3D animator I will often use "stock" 3D CAD models to fill out the basics of a scene (no reason to re-build the already dozens of detailed iPhone models for instance if I need one) as they are almost always cheaper than it would take me to make it from scratch.
Anyway, some companies sort of make it a side business, as certain items, like furniture or light fixtures will get bought and used by architectural rendering firms all over the place. Today I came across an announcement for a set of 3D audio models, and it's funny to see how many are in the very high-end of the spectrum. If you are showing a virtual multi-million dollar new condo, I guess you don't want some basic Cerwin-Vegas in the corner. How about some Focals or Infinities? Sure, a few lower end pieces or gear are in there, but most are ones that would be in the "aspirational category".
Anyway, check them out!
My only disappointment is that they didn't do any of the really beautiful turn tables out there. Nothing says money to burn like a nice VPI-HRX or and Oracle Delphi, right?
