With what you have said so far, you will need a tube integrated amp, a turntable, a phono preamp, a tuner, and loudspeakers. Your friend mentioned an iPod dock; do you intend to have a digital source?

For a tube sound, the Jolida JD1501 hybrid integrated amplifier has a tube preamp section and ample power from a solid state power amp section. I thought it sounded good.
