Woo Hoo!
Got the June Issue!
What's up with the letter-dudes?
Some guy with a 22 thousand dollar system hating on how much it would cost for a system if you chose the most expensive recommended component in each Stereophile Recommended Component category?
Does he realize that a vast majority of civilians would look at his tosssing off 22K as 'normal' makes him a kook in their eyes?
Did he try seeing how much less than 22K he could spend on the cheapest Stereophile recommended system and then opine how he could have done it so much cheaper thanks to Stereophile?
Another guy laments prices based on the average American income and is upset Stereophile reviews gear he can't afford.
I think I recognize his name from a letter to "Sensible Driving" complaining that one of the minivans they reviewed topped 30K.
I even think I saw him once at Costco standing in the wine section and yelling and demanding an explanation of how Costco can justify teasing him with wines that cost over 19 bucks a bottle.
Myself, I'm pissed that the most recent issue of "The Week" listed yet another house in the real estate section I'll never be able to afford.
I think I'll write them a hate letter and demand they change the name of the section to "Best Sensibly Priced For Everybody Houses On The market."
____________
I read Sam Tellig's brief description of the sound of the DeVore Gibbon 3XL.
If you haven't seen it yet, be patient. It takes up a little room at the end of Sam's homage to paring knives, typewriters, pens, and car stuff.
Turns out Sam loves paring knives, typewriters, pens, cars, and listening to music so much, he no longer has time for the usual audiophile song and dance.
Congrats!

Sorry about the rant. I hope I don't displace anybody who skips the review of the 495 dollar PSB speakers so they'll have time to whine about the review of the 16K Cantons!
