Not sure what your overarching reason is to connect the whyPhone to the DAC, but you may want to look in to connecting a computer to the DAC, which can be controlled by your phone, rather than connecting your phone directly to the DAC.
Google "AirPlay"... It's apple's better engineered but proprietary answer to the inferior sound of Bluetooth audio.

Just remember that scAirPlay downsamples anything above 48kHz.

And for the topic, I tend not to view my iPhone as a hi-fi source and found Airplay brilliant compared to bluetooth; however, with the latest crop of phones better than ever, maybe there is a market for DACs for smart phones. If you have a DAC already, just buy the apple cable and try it. Worst case, return the cable.
