my father recently bequeathed me a relatively new musical fidelity integrated amp and a pair of late 1970's/early 80's ProAc bookshelf speakers, one of which has a blown mid-range driver. how much is a repair going to cost me? should i replace the mid-range drivers in both speakers for balance?

also, like many of the others posting in this forum, i live in a crowded apartment and subsist entirely on federal student loans. i would really love to pair these speakers with a nice pair of (affordable) cables before the government runs out of money. for sources, i have an old technics turntable, an onkyo cdr, and a laptop/ipod.

thoughts on this set-up? any suggestions for cables? other relative inexpensive upgrades?

thanks!
