Hi to all! I'm sorry if I had to make a separate thread coz the newbie welcome sticky is already locked.

I am super new to all these audiophile thing, although I am not one yet I guess. I've been interested in building an affordable yet decent system since like 3 years ago, but I just don't have the knowledge to grasp all the terminologies and technicalities, which is only second to my state of being without adequate money for even starting an audiophile system. Anyway, to cut the long story short, I am currently looking for a very cheap stereo receiver or amp, or whatever that is, and a pair of cheap bookshelf speakers. Sorry for using the word cheap. I really don't have much money - still a student with no stable income from part-time work.

I need some serious help, especially considering that I am nowhere near any store or studio for an audition. My best bet would be to buy online. Based on reading the reviews from this website, I think I can afford the Polk RTi4, which by the way is available from amazon. I know, I know... I really don't have any idea.. like at all. Can anybody please extend help to me? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you so much!
