Here's something new, how to tweak a portable CD player. As everyone knows by now I'm using a portable cassette player and a portable CD player here. I have sold off my entire Woo Audio/Modded Oppo/Sennheiser HD600 system including Sylvania Badboy and 1942 Tung Sol rectifier tube and all interconnects and power cords. Aside from eliminating or greatly reducing magnetic fields, RFI/EMI, potential problems with house power, number of cables, wires and connectors, the portables can be tweaked easily and effectively. This is the short list of tweaks for the Sony Sport Walkman CD Player or any player, portable or otherwise. Clean and condition the earphone/headphone connector. Codename Turquoise color-coded dots on inside of the clamshell, for reduction of scattered laser light inside the clamshell. Dark Matter infrared light absorbing film is applied to the inside of the clamshell, top and bottom, after the Turquoise dots have been applied, being sure to cover and protect the laser itself whilst applying Dark Matter. Dark Matter extends the scattered light absorption begun with Turquoise dots. A Marigo VTS dot 2 mm constrained layer damper is applied to the laser assembly. The two AA batteries are treated with Cream Electret and Green Leaf Cream, the end caps are colored violet with a permanent ink marker. An Orange Green Leaf Cream square sticker is applied to the inside surface of the clamshell (see photo). CDs themselves can be treated any number of ways. I use up to ten different techniques. Currently I am using the Essence of Music CD liquid treatment and the last of Liquid Resolution, as Xtreme AV is no longer around. There are other treatments I use for the CD player and the CDs but this short list should be fine for right now.
