Aloha,
Seemingly obtuse question, but I hope it has a valid audio point by the time people discuss it.
(Disclaimer: Could be Bob Dylan, could be anybody, Bob Dylan is just an examplar; so we can skip the "I hate Bob Dylan" part of the equation.
)
OK, so...
New Bob Dylan recording comes out, and it sounds pretty good, sonically. But, it sounds different on one system than another!
On one rig, he has more chestiness to his voice and sounds like he might really sound. Is this an emphasis on the frequencies in those notes he hits?
On another rig, the chestiness is not there, and his vocal seems more clear. Maybe like he really sounds. Is this a suckout in the frequency where he hits his low notes, or is it more accurate?
On yet another rig, he sounds a slightly different way. Maybe like he really sounds.
One problem: If you go to Dylan concerts, still no way you know what he really sounds like! Like the time at the baseball field? Like the time at the theater? Like to other time in a concert hall?
So, how do you guys know what Dylan really sounds like when you play him?
