New member, thought I'd introduce myself here.
I live in Antwerp, Belgium.
Been interested in audio since I was about 14 when I bought my first tapedeck back in '88. My dad gave me a subscription to a Dutch audiomag and from there it spiraled out of control.
I've had two major systems until now: the first consisted of a pair Linn Keilidh speakers and a Sumo nine plus power amp and Athena pre.
Now I'm running A Quad 34 & 306 into ESL63 electrostatic speakers (a childhood dream come true). Sources are a squeezebox classic & cambridge dacmagic and a Thorens TD160 super with SME 3009 tonearm & Grado statement cartridge. I recently added a Rel Quake sub.
I buy most of my gear 2nd hand, lets me play in a higher league for my budget I feel.
I listen to all kinds of music but mostly bebop jazz, I'm very fond of the bluenote & impulse recordings. I can just as easily listen to Kraftwerk or some Hendrix though.
Now here's a question: I recently moved and the good news is I have a dedicated room now for audio: it's about 4.3x4 meters (my apologies for the metrics) and I'm planning to acoustically treat it. the bad news is i feel the ESL's are just too big for this room and I will have to trade them for some smaller speakers (be it standmount or floor) so I can place them a bit nearer to the front wall. Any ideas on this?
thanks in advance.
