This is a common problem with amps.

The thing that causes it is an ultrasonic oscillation in the overheating amp; you can't hear it (ultrasonic...), but it can be seen with an oscilloscope. It has a very high amplitude and is using a lot of power.

It is caused by a bad ground on one channel's input cable contact. This is usually just the outer contact not making a good connection. This can usually be fixed by taking a pair of pliers and squeezing the outer part until it makes a tighter connection when you push it on. Or, it could actually be a bad solder joint or broken ground in the cable.

Try a different pair of cables at the input of the amp and see if it cures the problem.

It could also be a short of some kind in one speaker; a bad capacitor in the crossover, or an actual short in the turns of the speaker driver coil.

Update. I did a little more troublshooting. I took off the cover of the amp and turned on the music. The left heat sink was arming up and the right one was staying cool. I then turned up the volume and the left one was getting hotter and the right one was starting to warm up. I then turned it all off and swapped the left and right speaker wires. Then I turned all back on and turned it up. The heating up move to the right side now. If I let it keep playing even at medium levels it will shut down after about 5 minutes.

Any ideas or input would be great.
