So I haven't been into audio since the early 80's, starting to get back into it again. I inherited an old receiver and speakers, looking to get back into audio and upgrade gradually.

I'm realizing that a lot of what I listen to now is streamed on-line. I'm wondering how you get streamed internet content thru a low-end (but decent sounding) system ? I have connected both a smartphone and a chromebook to the receiver, but that doesn't seem like the way to go, didn't sound great.

Any advice? I've seen lower end receivers with wifi & network capability. I understand they can get the 'biggie' sites like Pandora, Spotify etc, but that's now what I listen to.
Do you have to have a dedicated computer & run from the soundcard to the amp or receiver?

Thanks for any help
