hi i would like to ask help about one of my Marantz.
its a SR4001, i set up everything fine following the manual, i have a 4.1, with sub and 4 speakers set at "small" so to get more vibes from the SW. however, the sound mostly comes from the front, and the surround back is almost empty.
its ok for movies but for music. id like a 4 channel stereo... whats going on? why doesn't work? i tried with all surrounds and is the same
thanks

These problems are almost always because the owner did not speand enough time studying and undestanding the manual and did not do the setup procedure properly.

The manuals can be tough to follow, but the information is there.

Also, if you are playing a 2-channel CD, there is no content except for the front 2 channels, so obviously there is nothing in the other channels.

How have you connected your 2 rear speakers? They should be set as "side surround" and not "back surround." Also have you adjusted the channel balance with a test tone or Audyssey?

i've done it of course, and followed the menu step by step, however, a multichannel surrounds is selected exactly to switch a 2 channel in a four..
so no matter the source profile, a multichannel should be quadraphonic anyway

I am interpreting your statements to mean:
1. that you have your rear speakers connected to the side surround outputs
2. that you expect that selecting a multichannel playback mode should give quadraphonic playback even with a stereo source.

I agree. What modes have you tried?
