You could buy one of several tube amps, even the $120 Bravo Ocean. Keep it cool and use it with your DAC, and it will power the HD800. As an added bonus, the rough edges of the HD800 will smooth out just a tad.

I expect $1000 to $2000 would be about the right range for a new high power headphone amp, like Woo Audio. They have a bunch of really nice amps, a rather inexpensive one I bought for my HD 600s.
