My last patient canceled, so I had some time to kill, and I decided to go over to the record store. I really had nothing in mind, but I did set a budget before entering. Just to be responsible.
So here is what I got: Staring At The Sea - The Cure, I had this once, but I have not had it for about 5 years. A nice overview of an interesting band. The next was a find: Funk Of Ages - Bernie Worrell. Bernie knows his funk. He could be called Dr. Funkenstein without resorting to hyperbole. The cd has lots of guests, David Byrne and Jerry Harrison from Talking Heads, Sly and Robbie from so many reggae hits, Vernon Reid from Living Color, even Bootsy shows up on two tracks!
Next up, the compilation If I Were A Carpenter with lots of wild covers. This was a huge find and it was only 99 cents.
Finally, a two disc Stax box set with all the Stax favorites. It really sounds quite good in the car, I can't wait to listen for real.
The kicker to all of this, is that the total cost was around $35 including tax. For that I bought 93 cool tunes. I can't buy crappy downloads for that price!
