Well, IMO most rocks albums actually are a little deficient in , well ROCKIN', unfortunately due to over production and poor mixing, among other issues. Not all of course, but many a great album with true rock energy doesnt sound nearly as solid or dynamic as it could. And no, it ain't my system, 'cause I have rock, jazz and classical that have huge dynamic ranges and plenty of kick.

That being said, the new Elvis Costello album (Momofuku) on vinyl has great packaging, and is one of the most "live" and dynamic recordings I've heard in a long time! Recorded over just a mere 8 days, it's has true immediacy, great writing and just plain ROCKS! This is what music sounds like when you get everyone in the room together, not in a bunch of glass booth's over 18 months of multi tracking. Wow is all I can say. True rockin' audiophile sound. Get it, even on CD.

A nice touch for the vinyl package is you get a free full MP3 download for mobility, and it has this cool die-cut stencil inside for spray painting the album title all over town if you are so inclined. Heh...

PS: I just read over at Rolling Stone online (and Amazon.com) that this album currently is ONLY available as vinyl until a May 8th release date for the CD.
