A while back, I linked to the gramophone.net site where ALL of the magazine's past issues (back iinto 1920's!) are archived and PDF'd. This is obviously a boon for record collectors, etc., for checking out contemporary reviews of historical recordings...

But I've been discovering that Gramophone used to have a pretty active equipment reviews! Very fun to read & relatively thorough, especially compared to the 3-4 paragraphs they devote nowadays at the back, which are nothing more than adverts, really.

For example, check out the review of the Garrard 401 when it first came out (the reviewer had the unit #3 shipped to him)

I love the Gramohphone Archives!
