I have to wonder about [Stereophile]'s independence from corporate influence.

Is there something specific that makes you ask that question?

Quite funny - I've just decided to finish my posting on Computer Audiophile and register here. My opinion about that forum - endless and useless theoretizing. I find 'Stereophile' forum much more 'to earth', listening oriented and interesting. You are not going to check the replies so I'm not going to say 'bye'..

About 2 years ago I saw the writing on the wall and said so, live on this forum and privately to John a year later. The hobby has evolved and so has social internet etiquette. When threads are turned into trolling, appealing to the anger of unsuccessful listening practices and throwing anything on the wall to see what sticks, you could have banked on the mass exodus to follow.

Those of us who truly do care about the hobby and the institutions and practices this hobby was built on have no time for the inevitable. Sure, we'll put in our due to attempt to help the hobby cross the bridge but we can not cross that bridge for those refusing to grow.

The math isn't all that hard, you chase off the listeners and in turn you will watch your forum die a slow painful death. Listeners are expecting a certain bar to be set, unhappiness discontentment and dissatisfaction is not that bar. We shouldn't be defending the hobby but instead sharing the success of it, if it is indeed successful.

Bottom line is, music lovers in the end want to enjoy their listening and if they come to a place that is not "doing" that hobby...well as said "the writing is on the wall".

Good to see you too my friend. Our web guy has been working on the new website. It was great getting the suggestions from you and others. Sometimes when only looking through our eyes everyday it's easy to overlook what others might be seeing. In this case many have been looking at a half baked website if only typing in "Michael green audio" or even Michael green audio .com. When we realized that most people were going off of the search engines to old sites, we saw that we needed to jump on this right away.

Hopefully people here will click on the link http://www.michaelgreenaudio.net/ and go straight to the latest version while we work on cleaning up the old sites to point to the new.

Thanks for your input concerning this, it helped me to see something I wasn't before. Nice to have friends!
