So I finally completed my setup. This is my first stereo setup ever, it was assembled with new and used equipment and consists of:
B&W 683 speakers
Adcom GFA5300 amp
Musical Fidelity E20 preamp
Rega P1 Turntable
I'm going from a mainly a headphone music listener, or my Dynaudio BM5A studio monitors (I'm a musician). So the change to listening to music in my living room on this setup is very dramatic. It's very different in many unique ways. This might sound cheesy but the amount of feeling I can now get from my music is pretty incredible. There is one thing though that I am trying to get used to. That is the brightness of my setup, or lack of. Headphones are pretty bright, and studio monitors are pretty bright so I am used to a very bright sound. Now going to this setup plus listening to LPs most of the time the high end in comparison to what I've gotten used to sounds dull. I'm guessing that its entirely because of what I am used to, and that now I'm hearing music closer to how it was recorded, but I'm also wondering if this is not the case.
Also here is my room setup, I have the speakers very close to the spec that B&W suggest at about 6-7 ft apart, I'm about 6-7 ft away. They are about 15inchs or so from the wall, so they could be further away but still pretty decent. Its in a long room with a kitchen at the opposite end so the sound should defuse pretty well, and I have wood floors with a carpet over most of it.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this same experience.
