Hi everyone. I'm just getting started with setting up a system, something I haven't done since the 80s. I'm starting basic with what I can afford right now with plans to upgrade as I can down the line. I've got $400 to work with right now and so decided to get the Audio Technica AT-LP60BK turntable, Micca MB42X Bookshelf Speakers, Yamaha R-S202BL Stereo Receiver, as well as a used dual cassette deck from my local record shop. Where I'm getting confused is with pre-amps. As I understand it (and I might be very wrong), the turntable has a built in preamp and so won't need anything else to connect to the receiver. However, the speakers aren't powered and so will need an amp. Is that correct? Same with the cassette deck, also? And am I correct in assuming that the receiver is the hub of the whole setup? Any information or recommendations are greatly appreciated.
