Hii,
I used to be a reader of Stereophile when I was around 15 y/o and then quit for like 10 years to only get back into it right now. I'm looking to buy a system and I need a bit of help (ok, I lot).
I realize now that i don't really care for surround sound. I would much rather have a stereo system and even hook that up to my TV and have only two channels than have to listen to music on 5.1 (which I really dislike).
Right now I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-33TX Receiver (pretty old), the Bose Acoustimass 5 Speakers, and they are hooked up to my computer.
I want to upgrade my receiver to something like the Marantz PM6003, for which I've read rave reviews (but can't seem to find where to buy it in the US, any suggestions?). I've also read good things about the Epos bookshelf speakers, except that they have very prominent highs. And finally, I want to start buying vinyl so I'm thinking of buying a Pro-ject Debut III TT.
My questions are: What do you think about the Marantz stereo receiver, and where can I buy/listen to it? Also, would the Bose speakers pair up nicely or should I look into buying something better? Any suggestions? And what about buying an Apple Airport express to stream my music?? Too cheap a solution?
