Aloha,

I was lounging around leafing through hi fi mags this past weekend and Mrs. Buddha was doing a leisurely over the shoulder look into my universe.

After a bit, she asked if I ever noticed how NONE of the systems in the equipment ads would ever actually work.

I said, "Wha-choo talkin' 'bout, woman? They work great!"

She said, "Nope, ain't none got any power cords or interconnects."

(Yes, she uses the word interconnects. She can also tell how much a piece of gear I try to sneak into the system costs just by looking at it.... ...)

Dang, she was right. I couldn't find any hardware ads that showed any evidence that audio hardware requires AC power or interconnects. Just beautifully framed shots of grand listening rooms with classy equipment regally holding court, unfettered by AC-in or signal-out umbilici (plural of umbilicus?).

The only pics including wires that we could find were, of course, in the wire ads, and even then they only give a glimpse of a termination or whatever their specific schtick is, not really a glimpse of the sideboards of a listener's room being obscured by three runs of cable.

Anyway, she says that the first hardware manufacturer who can come up with hardware that actually looks as clean at home as it does in the ads will bring her wives group running credit cards in hand, and make the manufacturer so rich that he or she will be able to hire Bill Gates to peel his/her grapes!

So, you heard it from her, manufacturers, can you get right on this?
