My latest primary set of headphones just broke, and I'm in the market for a new set. My last pair were in-ear earbuds with a frequency response of 5-23,000 Hz from Sony that were $40. http://bit.ly/i02dv6

Since I'm mostly using the headphones for my iPod and creating music on my computer, what is the practicality of having headphones that are as low as 5 hz? I have been looking up different headphone brands and anything that is relevant to high-quality audio listening has at least a range of 8 hz and above. Does that make a difference in audio sound? Additionally, would I be better off with a set of cans? My hair isn't very conducive to the wearing of cans however I would switch for the sake of audio quality.
