I'm getting ready to purchase my first serious stereo system and i'm very intimidated There are no real serious shops in my area and the ones that are around have very little to choose from. They mostly carry Klipsch and B&W...I know that they are not bad choices, but i just don't like the fact that the dealer tries to force them down your throat. In addition, they do not seem terribly knowledgeable.

The facts:

-the area where i will be running the system is about 15' by 15' but the total room size is around 35'x 15'
-the purposes of the system are to play mostly movies with a little music thrown in here and there
-My budget is fairly flexible, with a ceiling of around $12,000 for everything
-the dealer is recomending that i run the B&W 686 series with a Dennon avr 2807 (I know this comes no where close to 12,000 but that is all they could recomend for my room size )

What do you guys recomend that i do?
