Hi All,
I've been reading through the forums and I've been really impressed at the quality of the responses.
Anyway, I'm trying to update my old system as my receiver died. My old system consisted of:
Harman Kardon hk795i receiver
B&O red line speakers
B&O turntable
Nakamichi BX125 tape deck
Yamaha CD player - don't know the model
Back when I put this together, it was pretty mid to mid-high in terms of quality. I'd like to update this with new equipment and have been to several local shops to scout out some stuff. Surround isn't important to me, so I'm staying two channel. Here's where I've landed and I'd love to know your thoughts.
Rotel RA1520 integrated amp
Speakers choices (space is a premium, so bookshelf speakers only):
B&W 685
B&W CM5 or
Totem Rainmaker
Sonos ZonePlayer 90 as a music source (sadly, most of my music now resides on my computer)
All together, this would run about $2500-$3000 before tax. My final thought is that these are available from a local shop that does their own service. A friend of mine has bought stuff from them and they've really taken care of him when his stuff broke/needed service. They provided him with loaner gear so he was never without music. I value this kind of customer service and like to support local merchants who provide this service. I also don't want to get something that will be so esoteric that it will be difficult to get serviced locally.
Thanks
