I am a new member of the site, but a long time music aficianado, just getting into the world of high-end audio. My current setup is as follows.

Macbook Pro w/itunes
Time Capsule with mixture of ALAC and 320kbs MP3 (215GB of music, 1000+ albums)
Arcam AVR100 Receiver (Connected to MBP via toslink)
Arcam DV88 DVD Player (Connected to receiver via Digital cable to receiver)
2x B&W DM602S3 120w speakers (QED cables connected to receiver)
1x B&W LCR60S3 120w speaker
2 Atacama Stands
Grado SR60i headphones

This is all currently in my bedroom, which is probably a bit small for the system, but I really enjoy the high quality (as I perceive it) sound which the setup generates. Its very warm, though I do find it lacks a bit in bass, particularly as I listen to a lot of dubstep and other electronic music, where this is prevalent.

I have a few questions about the system

1. Is it worth sorting the stands out with complete spikes and cones for the speakers?

2. Are there any small things which I should consider for improving the experience of listening?

Going forward, I have several plans. Firstly I would like to move the system to my sitting room, and have 5.1 surround, which would require the addition of 2 rear speakers at least, and possibly a sub. I would then also get an Airport Express, which could continue to feed the receiver with a digital, bit-perfect stream, albeit wirelessly.

For my bedroom (which doubles as my office) I would like to simplify the setup. Prospectively, I've considered a Peachtree Nova, and some B&W 685s, both of which have got great reviews all over the place. I should note I never listen to CDs, and try to avoid buying them for environmental reasons - Boomkat.com sells both high-quality MP3, as well as FLAC which can be converted to ALAC. If someone gives me a CD, I rip it then put it on discogs.

I think thats about it for now - I'd just appreciate people's advice on this going forward. I'm not mega rich, and for me the music comes first, audiophile equipment second.
