Umm... Bull-Schiit?
I have to tell you my Cambridge DacMagic 100 cost pennies in the grand scheme of audio and sounds wonderful connected to almost everything I plug a damn wire or optical cable up to.
That said, right now I'm listening to some old 90's R&B on an old Nakamichi and it sounds about as good as any source I've had in my rig, including my very good (if only sort of 'high end", whatever that means) Arcam CD72. So maybe stick with a company who's really really good at digital AND excellent value AND excellent support.
Spend almost nothing on entry level Arcam/Cambridge Audio/Marantz/Denon. They were already good at digital before Schiit was a company.
