I do not know what Roxio uses as an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). If you want to just digitize for listening on a portable device, there are inexpensive ADCs available that you connect to the line output of a preamp that outputs to the input of a sound card in your computer, or to USB input on your computer.
An alternative is to output the preamp to a 'better' stand-alone digital recorder where you can select the recording sampling rate and number of bits used in sampling. Some of these can get expensive though.
